Science and the Grape: Riesling
Sunday February 16, 2025 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
“I don’t drink Riesling. I don’t like sweet wines.” WHAT!?! Riesling is so much more! From bone dry to dessert-style sweet, still to sparkling, this grape can offer a more diverse range of wines than most. On top of the many styles, Riesling also reflects its age and region with a range of tastes from apple to peach to petrol (yes, petrol! Come find out what that is all about).
Let’s take a scientific look at why wines coming from the Riesling grape can be so diverse and enjoyable. Join the Intoxicating Professor: Heather McKechney, NYK Beverage University Instructor and chemistry professor as you sample five wines and leave with a new appreciation of what makes Riesling such a complex and delicious grape.
