How do I find New York Kitchen?
We are located at 800 South Main Street in Canandaigua, NY.
Do I need to make a reservation for the Tasting Room?
Tasting Room walk-ins are welcome. Reservations are recommended for groups of 6 or more, please call 585-394-7070 x 135 to book yours today.
Are you a culinary school?
We are neither a culinary school nor an institute. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to celebrating the agriculture, food, and craft beverages of New York State through shared experiences that connect and inspire.
What can I do at New York Kitchen?
There is so much to explore at the New York Kitchen! Each day, New York Kitchen drives its nonprofit mission forward through educational hands-on cooking classes and programs, wine and craft beverage classes and experiences, industry certification courses, a 100% New York State Tasting Room featuring wine, beer, cider, and distilled spirits from across the Empire State, and Junior Chef youth programming.
How do I register for a class?
You can register for a class online, by calling 585-394-7070, or in person at New York Kitchen.
Registering online?
- Check our our calendar here and select the class you would like to attend.
- When you are ready to check out, proceed to the shopping cart and complete the registration and payment process as directed.
- You will receive an email confirmation once you are successfully registered.

Are there minimum age requirements to participate in your classes?
- Most of our public culinary classes have a minimum age requirement of 12 years old, and those aged 12-17 must be accompanied by a paid/ticketed adult. The only exception to the minimum age requirement: Family Cooking Classes, where we welcome children 8 and up, accompanied by an adult. Please purchase 1 ticket per family member attending.
- Junior Chef Summer Camp & School-based Programming, the age requirement is 12-18 years old.
- If you are an adult or child in need of a support staff to participate in a cooking class, please contact our front desk. Adults, also, check out our Cooking Basics Classes for Adults, which offer a slower-paced environment and smaller class size.
- Craft beverage classes that include alcohol have a minimum age requirement of 21 years old.
Should I still sign up for a class if there is a waitlist?
It is always a good idea to add your name to the waitlist for a class that is of interest to you. You do not need to submit payment information until a spot becomes available. If an opening becomes available, you will be notified by phone or email.
Can I bring a support person with me to class?
Support staff (for a child or adult) can attend a class without paying for a ticket. Please be aware that our kitchen is set up for two ticketed individuals per station. If a support person would like to enjoy the meal that is prepared in class, they are welcome to purchase a ticket. Please call the front desk at (585) 394-7070 ext. 114 upon completing your registration to let the staff know that a support person will be in attendance for the class.
What is your cancellation policy?
Class ticket purchases are non-refundable or exchangeable for any reason. This is because New York Kitchen purchases materials and plans for classes based on the number of participants registered. However, if you’d like to offer your seat in that class to a friend or family member, we’d be happy to let them take your spot.
Can I purchase alcoholic beverages to bring into class?
Yes, beverages may be purchased from our Tasting Room.
How can I purchase a gift card?
Gift Cards can be purchased online, in person at the front desk, or by calling 585.394.7070.
What can gift cards be used for?
Gift cards are redeemable for any of New York Kitchen’s offerings, which includes our classes and purchases made from our Tasting Room.
What kind of events can be hosted at New York Kitchen?
New York Kitchen is a destination for private corporate and nonprofit gatherings. We welcome team-building cooking classes, wine and craft beverage classes and experiences, group happy hours, and meetings in our beautiful Finger Lakes setting.
As of January 1, 2026, New York Kitchen will no longer host weddings, showers, birthday parties, or similar social events. Thank you for understanding.
